Call to Worship
One: God has scattered the seed of love and compassion lavishly to the world.
Many: We long to be fertile ground, where God’s seed can take root and flourish.
One: There is so much in our world today that threatens to choke out God’s love and compassion.
Many: Lord, we come to this time of worship, seeking to prepare the soil of our hearts to receive and cultivate your good gifts.
We are called to act with justice
We are called to love tenderly
We are called to serve one another
To walk humbly with God
One: God has gifted our community with the gifts of fertile land, faithful laborers, and abundant love.
Many: We long to be good stewards of these incredible gifts to further God’s Realm in the here and now.
One: There is so much in our hearts and in our world that could lead us to squander what God has given.
Many: Lord, we come to this time of worship, seeking to prepare the soil of our community’s life to receive and cultivate your good gifts.
Pastoral Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer
Prayer requests - after each is shared:
One: Lord, in your mercy.
Many: Hear our prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Hymn - We Gather Together
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side; all glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

Hymn - Now Thank We All Our God
Now thank we all our God
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things has done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.
O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us,
and keep us in God’s grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
of this world and the next.
All praise and thanks to God
who reigns in highest heaven,
To Father and to Son
And Spirit now be given.
The one eternal God,
whom heaven and earth adore;
The God who was, and is,
and shall be evermore.
