Give a Harper Hug

On July 27, 2016 lives were changed forever when a beautiful toddler in our congregation, 14 month old Harper Rodden was killed.  One of the many ways that Harper brought joy into the world, was through her incredible hugs. She would just grab hold of you tight and hug you like she meant it with all of her heart. We are sharing Harper's Hugs by inviting people who attend our Live Nativity event or who worship with us this Advent to purchase and bring a teddy bear to the church.  We will dedicate them in worship with the Rodden family on Dec. 18th and then deliver them after the service to Children's Mercy hospital where Harper and her family received incredible care.  The bears will be given to children who need a bear to hug and bring them comfort in a difficult time.

Share Harper's Story

Harper was run over by a vehicle at her childcare providers home. Though this was a terrible accident, Harper's death could have been avoided. Harper's childcare procedures allowed the children to play in the front yard as parents and grandparents came to pick up their children. We are sharing Harper's Story to raise awareness about child safety around vehicles.  Go to Hugs@HarperRoddenhuglikeyoumeanit on Facebook to learn more about how you can honor Harper and protect other children and families from such tragedy. Share her page so that her story and this message reaches as many people as possible.
