Our story

A place to Grow

The Ewing Farm

Heritage is located on the land that was at the heart of the Ewing family Dairy, Back-Acres.  Glenn and Margaret Ewing raised their three children and their dairy cows on this land that was located south of the town of Olathe.  However, as the Kansas City Metro area expanded in the 1980's and 90's, housing developers soon had new plans for all those acres the family had farmed for a lifetime.

A Place To Grow

Heritage Presbyterian

As their land was sold and development began in South Olathe, Glenn and Margaret, life-long members of First Presbyterian Church of Olathe, donated eight acres and a farmhouse so that Heritage Presbyterian Church could be born. As founding members when our congregation was chartered in 1998, Glenn and Margaret were an integral part of the first chapter of God's vision for our church. God's vision for our congregation continues today and this land has proven yet again to be fertile soil where life can flourish and grow.

Heartland Day Camp Olathe

Beginning in 2012, Heritage began partnering with our regional church camp, Heartland Center to host a week of their day camp program on our church's grounds.  In the summer of 2015, we expanded that partnership to become Heartland Day Camp Olathe, a satellite for our home camp in the southwest corner of the KC Metro area.  Each summer our eight acres and refurbished hay barn is filled with children who are learning about Christ's love for them in a fun and inspiring camp environment.

The camp's presence here is a sign of how God's vision for our lives is always bigger than our own.
